About the Owner
Debby Chumley Smith is the owner and primary designer of Transitions Interior Design, Inc. She studied interior design at Samford University earning a Bachelor of Science degree. From there she went on to The University of Alabama where she earned a master’s degree in interior design. She also holds a Florida state professional license in interior design which allows her firm to practice commercial design as well as residential design. Most importantly, Debby is truly enthusiastic about providing quality design and leaving her clients completely happy with the warmth, functionality and beauty of their surroundings.

Our mission at Transitions Interior Design is to enhance our client’s lives by providing inviting, beautiful and functional personal spaces in which to live and work. We take pride in our ability to listen to their needs and aesthetic inclinations allowing us to bring them comfort and pleasure when their projects are complete.
We are well-known for our artistic interior design and interior detailing. Our fresh and artistic approach to interior design is evident in the work we create, including ocean side condominium renovations, single family homes, condominium lobbies, hallways and social rooms, business and medical offices as well as retail spaces. We enjoy transforming all types of spaces and we are enthusiastic about providing our design services to all potential clients regardless of the scale of the project.
Our team has been carefully crafted and is made up of very talented licensed sub-contractors, workrooms and materials resources. We work together on every design project with the goal of leaving our clients completely content. We achieve this by constantly striving to meet their functional and aesthetic needs while staying on budget and by coming to a timely completion of their projects.
Design Process and Services
Our process is simple and is outlined in the following steps:
The Consultation
The initial consultation meetings are casual, collaborative and hopefully fun. We meet at the client’s home or business to assess the space, determine the scope of the project and talk about the financial aspects of the job.
Design Agreement
Upon approval of a design agreement, with careful consideration of the client’s needs, likes and dislikes, the designer, Debby Smith, puts together a design plan and presentation which includes:

A furniture plan/ floor plan

A lighting plan if necessary

Custom furniture drawings

Photos of furnishings and fixtures

Fabric swatches and finish samples

Proposed budget
Design Implementation
Once the elements of the design plan are approved by the client, our team completes purchases, schedules sub-contractors, work crews, deliveries and installations. We at Transitions provide our clients with complete package including project management and oversight thus minimizing the amount of time and energy the client need provide.
